EP 58: 7 Weeks Pregnant: Week By Week Pregnancy Guide

Congratulations, Mama! At week seven of pregnancy, there’s so much happening inside your body—even if it doesn’t feel like it from the outside. Your little one is growing at an incredible pace, and you’re likely starting to notice some early pregnancy symptoms. Let’s break down what’s happening this week and how you can navigate this exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) time.

Your Baby at 7 Weeks: The Size of a Blueberry
By week seven, your baby is the size of a blueberry and starting to look more human. Their brain is creating about 100 new brain cells every minute, and tiny arm and leg buds are forming. Here’s a snapshot of their growth:

  • Brain Development: Rapid growth as your baby’s neural network expands.
  • Face Formation: Spots for nostrils, mouth, and eyes are taking shape.
  • Arms & Legs: Paddle-like buds are the start of future kicking and waving!

What You Might Be Feeling
This week, you might notice classic pregnancy symptoms ramping up, including:

  • Fatigue: Your body is working overtime—rest when you can.
  • Nausea & Food Aversions: Small, frequent snacks can help.
  • Heightened Sense of Smell: Hormones are making scents extra strong.
  • Mood Swings: Blame it on hormones; be kind to yourself.

Self-Care Tips for Week 7
To feel your best, focus on small, manageable habits:

  1. Stay Hydrated: Sip water throughout the day, especially if nausea is hitting hard.
  2. Try Ginger: Ginger tea or chews might help with nausea.
  3. Prenatal Vitamins: These are essential for nutrients like folic acid and iron.
  4. Journal Your Journey: Track your thoughts and symptoms for reflection and provider discussions.

When to Call Your Provider
Most symptoms are normal, but call your doctor if you experience:

  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Anything that feels off

Final Thoughts
Pregnancy is an incredible journey, and you’re doing amazing. Take things one day at a time, prioritize self-care, and remember—you’ve got this, Mama!
